HCM CITY— More than 50 singers, dancers, musicians and fashion models will perform at a music and fashion programme tonight at HCM City’s Bến Thành Theatre.

The event, called Tình Xuân (Spring Love), is part of the city’s cultural activities to welcome the Lunar New Year. It will highlight songs and dances in praise of the country and soldiers.

Veteran singers Ánh Tuyết, Cẩm Vân and Khắc Triệu, and young pop idols Đông Nhi and Noo Phước Thịnh will be featured, while pop star Đàm Vĩnh Hưng and Vietnamese-American singer Dương Triệu Vũ will also perform.

The artists will sing folk and traditional music, with contemporary dances by young artists from ABC and HBSO troupes.

A fashion show from designer Liên Hương, who will display her three collections of áo dài (Vietnamese long dress) in traditional materials, will be a highlight of the show.

Her collections Nét Đẹp Sài Thành (Beauty of Sài Gòn) and Thiên Điểu (Birds of the Sky) use satin, silk and lace, featuring images of Vietnamese women in the 1960s and 70s.

Royal patterns from the Lê, Lý and Trần dynasties are featured in clothes of the collection called Huyền Sử Thăng Long (History of Thăng Long Citadel)

“I wanted to highlight Vietnamese culture and lifestyle,” said fashion designer Hương, who has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry.

The catwalk will attract 20 top models, including Miss Universe Việt Nam 2017 H’Hen Niê.

The show is expected to attract 2,000 guests.

It will open at 8:30pm tonight at Bến Thành Theatre, 6 Mạc Đĩnh Chi, District 1.— VNS
