HÀ NỘI  Leading Vietnamese fashion designer Minh Hạnh will showcase her new collection at the Albert Kahn Museum and Gardens in Paris on Thursday.

Hạnh says her aim is to allow French audience to feel the sensation of breathing through a Vietnamese mountain forest. The collection highlights brocade patterns through an array of handmade embroidery.

Hạnh also invited traditional weavers Vàng Thị Mai of the Mông ethnic group, and Hồ Thị Hợp, from the Cơ Tu ethnic groups to demonstrate classic Vietnamese techniques.

Miss Việt Nam 2010 Ngọc Hân will walk the catwalk, along with other Vietnamese and French models.

The Albert Kahn Museum was built in the 18th century, featuring famous gardens in French and Japanese design. Only the Hermes fashion brand has hosted shows at the museum to date.

Hạnh was presented the Knight of Arts and Literature title by the French government in 2006 for her contribution to promoting French-Vietnamese cultural co-operation, particularly in the world of fashion.

She is the first Vietnamese designer to receive the title. — VNS
