HÀ NỘI — PetroVietnam should actively provide the Vietnam News Agency with official latest news, especially regarding sensitive issues so that the outlet can disseminate information, orient public opinion, and reject inaccurate stories.

VNA General Director Nguyễn Đức Lợi made this statement at a ceremony following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the agency and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in Hà Nội on May 23.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VNA General Director Lợi lauded PetroVietnam as one of the pillar groups of the Vietnamese economy, contributing to the State budget and ensuring national energy security.
PetroVietnam also makes important contributions to maintaining national security and safeguarding sovereignty of islands and sea around the country, he said.
The VNA General Director said that VNA is providing accurate, objective, reliable and up to date news to domestic and foreign press outlets.
He noted that VNA also provides important publications such as reference news and special reference news for agencies, adding that VNA is now a strong national news agency in Southeast Asia and is striving to become a multimedia corporation with various news forms.
PetroVietnam Chairman Trần Sỹ Thanh said PetroVietnam always receives support from press agencies, especially VNA – a national press agency with prestige at home and abroad, and a contingent of reporters across 63 cities and provinces nationwide, with 30 bureaus abroad.
He said PetroVietnam workers are drilling oil day and night at sea and fulfilling the noble task of affirming national sovereignty. Despite recent difficulties, it remains one of the corporations that contribute most to the State budget and economic growth.
Thanh added that partnership with VNA will strengthen public trust in State-owned enterprises, contributing to improved transparency in information and public supervision on businesses, as well as promoting the image and stature of PetroVietnam during the national development course. — VNS
