Banana Flower Salad

Salads are always a good choice when you want to get away from the stuffy heat of April in Ha Noi. The Nom Hoa Chuoi (Banana Salad) recipe, courtesy of Chef Tran Duong Lam from the Guoman Hotel, will give you all you need to know to make this refreshing and tasty summer treat for six of your closest friends.


  • Banana flower 0.2kg

  • Chicken breast 0.2kg, boiled

  • Carrots 0.1kg

  • Bean sprouts 0.1kg

  • Onion 1

  • Fish sauce 2 teaspoons

  • Sugar 2 teaspoons

  • Lime Juice 1.5 teaspoons

  • Garlic 10 cloves, crushed

  • Chilli Peppers 1 chopped

  • Roasted peanuts and sesame, crushed

  • Fennel 1 bunch, washed.


  • Cut the banana flowers, carrots and onion into thin strips and put them in a bowl with the chopped chicken and bean sprouts.

  • Mix in the sugar, fish sauce, lime juice, chilli peppers and garlic.

  • Arrange the salad on a plate and garnish with fennel.
