HA NOI — Hoang Quy Phuoc broke two more Vietnamese swimming records at the National Sports Games' yesterday.
Phuoc, who swims for Da Nang, set five new national records at the competition, which started on Monday.
However, HCM City won the championship with 13 gold, four silver and 13 bronze medals at the Ha Noi Aquatic Centre.
Da Nang bagged nine gold and four bronze medals to finish second, while Quang Binh came third.
Phuoc, 17, the Southeast Asian Games bronze medallist, swam the 100 medley in 57.68, beating Hanoian Do Huy Long's record by five hundredths of a second.
He then went on to set a new record in the 100m freestyle with a time of 49.50sec, smashing the record set by the Army's Nguyen Thanh Hai of 51.96sec in 2006.
In the women's competition, HCM City teenager Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen set two more records at the competition after breaking the women's 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly.
The 16-year-old national team member set 10 records in total at the Games and won 11 gold medals. — VNS
