Việt Nam win golds in Asian youth chess champs

Việt Nam wrapped up the Asian Youth Chess Championships with seven gold, five silver and seven bronze medals.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam wrapped up the Asian Youth Chess Championships with seven gold, five silver and seven bronze medals.

In the last day of standard chess competition yesterday the young masters secured two gold and one bronze.

Nguyễn Thanh Thủy Tiên triumphed in the U18 Girls category, with seven points after nine matches.

Thủy was the only Vietnamese who wasn’t defeated at the 12-day tournament in Mongolia.

Earlier, her junior teammate Tôn Nữ Quỳnh Dương, who was not a seed in U8 Girls, took her title with 7.5 points.

Trần Minh Thắng was the only Vietnamese boy finishing in the top three. He grabbed a bronze medal in the U16 class.
