HA NOI — Thailand's Wasin Sripattranusorn won the Viet Nam Amateur Open with 274 (-14) at the Da Lat Palace Golf Club yesterday.

Meanwhile, Ngo Bao Nghi and Trinh Van Tho topped the women's and men's division of the Viet Nam National Championship respectively.
In the women's event, also held at Da Lat Palace Golf Club, Nghi, 17, defended her title with 224 after beating Nguyen Thi Hang and 2008 winner Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, who finished with 236 and 239 respectively.
Tho from Viet Nam Golf & Country Club finished at 291 with the gold medal in the men's, edging out Andrew Hung Pham of Sai Gon Golf team who came in second with 293 and team-mate Nguyen Ngoc Bao in third.
Thai Wasin Sripattranusorn flexed his muscle as he led the Viet Nam Amateur Open from the start on Thursday. Smashing Peter Villaber from the Philippines and Malaysian Mohd Iszaimi Bin Ismail in the last day, the Thai golfer putted his way home to the prize.
Filipino Peter Villaber came in second with a scorecard of 278 (-10). After an impressive course record of 63 in the final round yesterday, Malaysian Ismail was only able to catch third place with his total of 279 (-9).
The nation's largest golf tournaments, which began on Thursday and span four days, have attracted 128 golfers in both male and female divisions. The 72-hole competition, has seen golfers from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia travel to Vietnam for a chip at the title. — VNS
