HÀ NỘI — Becamex Bình Dương played to a scoreless draw to eliminate defending V.League champions Hà Nội FC in the semi-final of the 2018 National White Tiger Cup on Thursday at Hàng Đẫy Stadium.
Despite the draw, Bình Dương advance to the final on the strength of their 3-3 result in the first leg.
The game started intensely, with each team trying to break the deadlock. With most of the pressure on Hà Nội FC, the team took an attacking stance.
The Hà Nội team had more scoring changes, including a nervy moment for goalkeeper Tấn Trường in the 19th minute. Đoàn Văn Hậu failed to convert.
The first half ended with futile attempts on goal from Quang Hải, Văn Quyết and Ganiyu Oseni.
The second half began with many shots by Tiến Linh, Anh Đức and Hoàng Vũ Samson, but Trường’s excellent play in the final minutes helped preserve the draw.
Bình Dương will play in the final thanks to a rule that values away goals over home goals.
The capital team accepted their bronze medals with regret.
