HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam defeated Singapore 4-0 in the second match of Group A of the AFF U16 Girls’ Championships on May 3.

The match was held at Jaka Baring Stadium in Palembang City, Indonesia.

Việt Nam was in control of the game from the start.

In the fifth minute, ahead of the goal by Singapore, defender Isis Ang scored a goal to open the points for Việt Nam.

After that, Vũ Thị Hoa and Bảo Hân made two dangerous shots on Singapore’s goal but were saved by goalkeeper Azura Azlan.

In the 18th minute, taking advantage of an error by Singapore’s defenders, striker Vũ Thị Hoa doubled the score for Việt Nam.

When the first half was almost over, Hoa scored her second goal to raise the score to 3-1 for Việt Nam.

After the break, it began to rain, and Việt Nam changed their tactics and players to adjust with the weather.

In the 54th minute, striker Đặng Thanh Thảo made a goal, taking Việt Nam’s score to 4-0.

Although Việt Nam won the match, head coach Nguyễn Thị Mai Lan was not satisfied with the team’s performance.

“My players did not play confidently although Singapore are not a strong rival. We wasted a lot of chances,” Lan said after the match. “We need to do better in the next game.”

In another match of Group A, Malaysia defeated the Philippines 2-0.

Việt Nam temporarily top Group A with four points, followed by Malaysia and Myanmar.
