No 4 seed Nam out of Men’s Futures singles

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam was ousted from the Men’s Futures F9 tennis tournament yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

The No 4 seeded Vietnamese was beaten 2-6, 6-7 (5) by No 5 Enzo Couacaud of France in the quarterfinals of the singles event. Couacaud also won the F8 event last weekend.

Nam will still compete in the tournament’s doubles category today with Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei. They will fight for the title against their South Korean rivals Moon Ju-Hea and Noh Sang-woo.

In other matches yesterday, the No 1 seeded Ti won 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 over No 7 Hung Jui-chen; No 8 seed Davis Agung Susanto was defeated 6-4, 3-6, 0-6 by unseeded Francis Casey Alcantara of the Philippines.

Ti will play Couacaud in the first semifinal match, while Alcantara will play No 6 Evan Song of the US who beat No 3 Sasi Kumar Mukund of India 7-6 (3), 7-5. — VNS
