Nam beats world No 706 Yamasaki Jumpei at Men’s Future

Vietnamese top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam defeated Japanese Yamasaki Jumpei in the men’s singles first round of the Việt Nam Men’s Futures F6 tennis tournament in the southern province of Bình Dương on September 27.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam defeated Japanese Yamasaki Jumpei in the men’s singles first round of the Việt Nam Men’s Futures F6 tennis tournament in the southern province of Bình Dương on September 27.

Nam, world No 929 crushed world No 706, No 8 seed Jumpei 7-6, 6-2.

The 19-year-old Nam will meet Onishi Ken of Japan, world No 1078 in the next round.

Meanwhile, Nam’s teammate Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên lost to No 2 seed Ochi Makoto, world No 398, 6-7, 2-6.

Earlier, in the F5 event, Nam won the men’s singles and doubles title. — VNS
