HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thành Tâm grabbed his win at the fifth stage of the VTV International Cycling Tournament yesterday.

Tâm, of Hạt Ngọc Trời, finished the 54km race at Hồ Chí Minh Square in Vinh City, Nghệ An Province, with a time of 1hr 10.49min. He had just passed Frenchman Jos Koop of BICT from Laos in the final 200m to earn his first win.

Meanwhile, Lê Nguyệt Minh of the Vietnam-US Society English Centre came in third.

Yellow jersey holder Koop extended his lead to 9sec to his nearest rival, Quàng Văn Cường An Giang, in the overall ranking. He also retained his strong hold on top of the green jersey table with 95 points.

In the team ranking, Hạt Ngọc Trời, Domesco Đồng Tháp and Vietnam-US Society English Centre hold the top three positions.

In the sixth stage today, cyclists will race from Vinh to Thanh Hóa Province on a 144km route. — VNS
