HA NOI (VNS)— Reigning champions Becamex Binh Duong have to defend all three trophies they grabbed in the previous season with the top priority to the V.League which begins this weekend.

"Becamex Binh Duong are home to the cups of the V. League, the National Cup and the Super Cup. We must defend our achievement this year and I believe that we can make it," Le Hong Cuong said.

Cuong is the general director of the Binh Duong Sports and Football Joinstock Company which manages the national leading club.

The manager knows it was not an easy task although Binh Duong are home to many national stars and qualified foreign players.

"While many clubs paid a lot of cash to recruit players to prepare for the season. We are almost staying still," Cuong said.

"We plan to pick some players of the young squad in the first team. They probably will not play well in the debut season, but they are our secret weapons for the next few years."

Prior to the tournament Becamex Binh Duong ended their contracts with several players and added five names, all are under 19, who grew up at the club's training centre.

"This year, FLC Thanh Hoa and Ha Noi T&T are potential rivals who will vie for the title with us. Thanh Hoa have hired many national players and also the most experienced coach of the league, clearly showing their ambition," Cuong said.

"Ha Noi T&T owns a team of both seniors and juniors who have worked well with each other recently."

"We respect all opponents and consider each match a battle, and we want to bring home at least one point," Cuong said.

The managers also completed their foreigner list with two strikers and two midfielders.

They will strongly support local talent such as three-time Golden Ball holder Le Cong Vinh and best player of 2015 Nguyen Anh Duc.

Just three days after the first V. League match, Becamex Binh Duong will take part in the AFC Champions League ACL where they hosts Jiangsu FC on home ground.

"We have done all the preparations for the new season. We are ready to host Can Tho in the first match as well as the ACL event. The whole team will try hard, double or triple times more than last year for victory," technical director Dang Tran Chinh said. — VNS
