DA NANG (VNS) — Sixty-four futsal teams in this central city will compete in the qualifying round of the National Amateur Futsal Championship of the Sai Gon Beer Cup from today till Sunday.
The teams will play in a knock-out format on a five-per-side artificial turf for the VND40 million (US$1,900) first prize at the city's East Sea Park. The top two teams will take berths in the final round in Binh Thuan Province's Phan Thiet City next month.
The tournament, the largest amateur futsal championship in Viet Nam, has seen teams competing in the qualifiers in 12 provinces and cites since September. The final round offers cash prizes totalling VND270 million ($13,000).
In the first tournament last year, 1,000 teams took part in the qualifying rounds in 16 provinces and cities. — VNS
