Viet Nam has sent three representatives to the World Swimming Championships that got off to a splash yesterday in Istanbul, Turkey.
The 11th edition of the event takes place in a 25m pool and will finish on Sunday.
Nguyen Thi Anh Vien will compete in the women's 100m backstroke event. The Asian silver medallist's personal best is 1min 2.70 set at the Southeast Asian Swimming Championships in June, but that is still far behind the world gold medal time of 56.08 by American Natalie Coughlin.
Hoang Quy Phuoc will compete in the men's 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly events and Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen will swim in the women's 200m butterfly.-VNS
