Viet Nam has been placed in the same group with Korea according to the draw for the qualifying stage of the inaugural Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-22 Asian Cup, which took place on Tuesday.
Viet Nam and South Korea are in group G, which also includes Malaysia, Myanmar, Chinese Taipei and the Philippines.
A total of 41 countries, with 23 in the qualifying rounds for the West Zone and 18 in the East Zone, have been grouped into seven groups consisting of either six or five teams.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for next year's finals, while a berth is also available for one best third-place team and the AFC U-22 Asian Cup 2013 hosts.
All the qualifying matches will be played between June 23 and July 3.
The finals will be played in 2013, and the next edition of the biennial competition in 2015 will serve as the qualifying matches for the 2016 Olympics.-VNS
