Traffic accidents kill 1,125 this year

HÀ NỘI — Traffic accidents killed 1,125 people and injured 1,781 others nationwide in the first two months of this year.

Both the number of dead and injured were lower than the same period last year, according to data from the National Committee for Traffic Safety.

There were 231 fewer people killed than the same period last year and the number of injured people was 385 people lower, said Nguyễn Trọng Thái, chief of the committee’s office.

The traffic accidents mainly occurred on roads.

It is calculated that 1,099 people were killed in road traffic crashes, 17 people were killed in railway accidents and 9 people were killed in waterway accidents. — VNS
