HCM CITY — The Cà Mau Province’s People’s Committee has suspended operations of the biggest waste treatment plant in the delta for three months for maintenance reasons.

The committee asked the Cà Mau Limited Urban Environment Company to handle the waste in the interim.

The committee has set up a 200 square metre area for waste collection and has dug two landfills totalling 5,000 square metres.

Công Lý Construction, Trade and Tourism Company, the investor of the waste treatment plant, has been asked to speed up the maintenance process.

The waste treatment plant opened six years ago with a capacity of 200 tonnes a day, and a total investment of VNĐ350 billion (US$15.2 million). – VNS
