HCM CITY (VNS) — Senior Vietnamese and US officials are set to discuss key economic, political, and educational issues related to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is due for official signing in the next few months, at a conference in HCM City tomorrow.
The "20 Years of US – Việt Nam Relations: Business & Education Opportunities in Light of TPP" will feature three panel discussions on bilateral relations 20 years after normalisation and beyond, strengthening trade and investment relations after the TPP, and tapping the potential of education and people-to-people ties.
There will also be important keynote speeches.
Việt Nam will be represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, former foreign minister Nguyen Duy Nien, and former industry and trade minister Truong Dinh Tuyen.
The US side will feature, US ambassador to Việt Nam Ted Osius, HCM City consul Rena Bitter, and experts from think tanks.
They will be joined by Vietnamese TPP negotiators, leading US and Vietnamese entrepreneurs, Vietnamese academics and educators, and Vietnamese graduates of US universities who now hold prominent positions in Việt Nam.
The conference will be held at the Reverie Saigon Hotel in District 1.
It is organised by the US-based Center for Strategic & International Studies and Việt Nam's Center for Strategic and International Development. — VNS
