DA NANG (VNS) — The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Da Nang inked an agreement yesterday to promote information on socio-economic development, investment, hi-tech, administrative reforms, environment and tourism via VNA's communication system.

Chairman of the city's people's committee, Huynh Duc Tho said the co-operation agreement was a benchmark in the relationship between the city and the VNA in promoting the city nationwide and over the world.

He hoped the VNA would partner the city in promoting big events regarding culture, tourism, investment and trade in the coming years.

Tho said Da Nang will host the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race and the 5th Asian Beach Games next year and Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) in 2017.

Following the deal, the VNA will provide sources of news for the city's portal and local media as well as building a website and special pages of Da Nang in printed newspapers and online media, television and the audio of the VNA.

VNA's General Director Nguyen Duc Loi said the communication deal will help build a bridge to link Da Nang and the world, and strengthen co-operation in communication with the city that had been planned by the VNA in the past years.

He said Da Nang plays a key role in socio-economic development in the central region of Viet Nam.

Loi said the VNA's system of its representatives in 63 cities and provinces nationwide and 30 offices abroad would help broadcast positive images of Da Nang in foreign investment, and potential, advantages of the central city in the central region. — VNS
