VNA television celebrates 5th anniversary

HA NOI (VNS) — The Vietnam News Agency's (VNA) VNEWS television channel celebrated its fifth anniversary today, having made its official debut in 2010.

VNEWS broadcasts 24 hours a day, providing viewers fast and accurate news reported by a large group of correspondents in 63 provinces and cities throughout the country and 30 countries world-wide.

News is broadcast in five languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Spanish and Chinese.

Speaking at the ceremony, director of the channel Nguyen Thien Thuat said the establishment of the channel marked an important milestone in the history of VNA's development.

Thuat said the channel also runs specialised programmes, including Nguoi dan va Chinh Phu(People and the Government); and Bien gioi – Bien Dao –Que Huong (National border – Seas and Islands – Homeland) to bring political news to both domestic and international viewers.

Thuat also said the channel also produced television programmes to introduce the Vietnamese people, their image and the country to the international community. — VNS
