Police smash two drug trafficking gangs

HCM CITY (VNS) — The HCM City Police, in co-ordination with the Binh Tan District, yesterday smashed a drug trafficking ring in the district and confiscated more than 13kg of crystal methamphetamine.

The police had come to know through investigations that 36-year-old Dong Ngoc Thanh Tan, a resident of District 6, was trading a great amount of crystal meth and had caught him.

Based on Tan's statements, the police seized 43-year-old Nguyen Manh Hung, a resident of District 1, who had sold the crystal meth to Tan.

The police confiscated more than 11kg of crystal meth from Hung's house.

Widening their investigation, the police caught two accomplices of Hung and seized 1.5kg of crystal meth.

On August 14, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department discovered another drug trafficking ring that extended from the north to the south, headed by 43-year-old Lanh Minh Thai, a resident of District 2.

The police arrested six people and confiscated 10kg of crystal meth, more than 1,000 ecstasy tablets, nearly 500g of drugs and a gun, besides 13 bullets. — VNS
