HCM CITY (VNS) — The HCM City Police uncovered a nationwide drug trafficking ring after three months of investigation, and arrested six people and seized more than 10kg of drugs and 1,600 pills.

The confiscated drugs comprised 10.4kg of methamphetamine, about 1,100 ecstasy pills and 500 synthetic drug pills.

The HCM Police also seized a gun, 13 bullets, six cars and other equipment and documents.

The gang leader, 43-year-old Nguyen Van Thai from Ha Long City, was arrested at a food store, and his accomplices were apprehended while transporting illegal drugs.

Police said the gang hid the drugs in a safe inside a car and then used trucks to transport the car from the North to HCM City and the southeastern province of Binh Duong.

In HCM City, they rented several apartments to hide the drugs.
