VN students win four International Chemistry Olympiad medals

HA NOI (VNS) — Four Vietnamese twelfth-grade students won a gold medal, two silver medals and a bronze medal at the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Azerbaijan from July 20 to 29.

The gold medal went to Dinh Tuan Hoang from Ha Noi-Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students.

Pham Thai Ha from Ha Noi-Amsterdam High School in Ha Noi and Tran Dinh Hieu from Bac Ninh High School for gifted students in the northern Bac Ninh Province received the silver medals.

The bronze medal went to Nguyen Thuy Hang from Hung Vuong High School for Gifted Students in the northern province of Phu Tho.

The education and training ministry will hold a welcome ceremony to award certificates to the winners at Noi Bai International Airport on Friday.

IChO is an annual academic competition for high school students worldwide. This year, 294 students from 79 countries and territories took part in the competition.

At IChO 2014, hosted by Viet Nam, Vietnamese students won two gold and two silver medals, helping Viet Nam to be among the top five countries. — VNS
