Thang, 29, from Dai Kim Ward in Hoang Mai District in the capital, had been employed at Noi Bai Commercial Ground Enterprise since 2009.

According to investigators, Thang's main duty had been to monitor the transport of passengers' luggage from the goods gathering area to airplanes, and vice versa.

Investigators said Thang together with his accomplices has committed at least 10 thefts at Noi Bai airport, and he illegally appropriated over VND176 million (US$8,000).

Early in November last year, taking advantage of a work assigned to him, Thang stole four mobile phones of Massel Star 500 brand of Ha Noi Viettel postal company sent via air and worth VND8 million (US$366). He later sold the phones to an unknown person for VND4.8 million (US$220).

In April last year, when he was assigned to supervise the unloading of luggage and goods from international flights coming from Europe to Noi Bai Airport, Thang stole two perfume bottles of Channel and Gucci brands and a pair of sunglasses of an unidentified brand from an unlocked suitcase.

In late May last year, Thang worked with some accomplices to steal 10 mobile phones of LG G2 brand.

The police are investigating the case and verifying the role of his accomplices.

To serve the investigation, the police have urged those who have lost the goods mentioned above to contact the Ha Noi Police's department of criminal investigation of social order, Division 3, at No. 7, Thien Quang Street, Nguyen Du Ward, Hai Ba Trung District in Ha Noi, for further information. — VNS
