Three killed in crane accident in Mekong Delta

CUU LONG DELTA (VNS) — A woman and her two sons were killed by a crane which fell on Provincial Road No 842 in Hong Ngu Town of the Mekong province of Dong Thap this morning.

The accident occurred on the road which intersects a construction site for the Hong Ngu Bridge No 2. It killed 31-year-old Can Tuong Van and her five-year-old and two year-old sons. Van was taking her children to school.

Hong Ngu Town police said at the time of the accident, the crane was being operated by 29-year-old driver Nguyen Thai Huynh.

A broken crane cable was possibly the cause of the accident, according to the police force. —VNS
