HA NOI (VNS) — Customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi yesterday announced that they have seized 2.7kg of synthetic drugs and cocaine destined for Australia via an express service.

The drugs, sent from Ha Noi on February 11, were hidden in three cosmetics boxes.

A customs officer said the sender had used a fake name and address.

The case is pending further investigation.

The trafficking of drugs by air has recently been on the rise, especially in Ho Chi Minh City.

During January-September 2014, more than 20 drug-trafficking cases were brought to light at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, resulting in the arrest of 14 suspects and the seizure of 7.7kg of heroin, 13kg of cocaine, 4kg of meth and nearly 40kg of drug precursors. — VNS
