HA NOI (VNS) — The national traffic safety committee yesterday ordered Hai Phong City's traffic safety committee to identify the people responsible for negligence in the case of a pregnant woman's death.
The local 115 emergency centre's medical staff had failed to perform proper emergency procedures on a seven-month pregnant woman involved in a traffic accident on Monday, and had presumed her to be dead.
The committee's order came after an online newspaper reported on Monday that the medical staff left the accident site immediately on seeing that the female victim's body was covered with a mat, and did not check for her vital signs. Due to their negligence, the medical staff did not discover that the victim was pregnant and failed to conduct medical interventions.
The traffic safety committee said that its order was aimed at correcting the behaviour of medical staff in the city.
The committee also ordered the local police to quickly find out the cause of the accident and deal with the persons responsible for it. — VNS
