Sailors rescued from stranded vessel

QUY NHON (VNS) — A ship from the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre, known as Da Nang MRCC, rescued 10 sailors from Quang Ngai Province yesterday after their boat broke down with mechanical problems.

The boat, owned by Nguyen Cu from Duc Pho District, sent distress signals at about noon on Tuesday after wasting hours trying to fix the problem. The sailors were taken to the coastal city of Quy Nhon.

The Da Nang MRCC rescued a total of 61 sailors in October.

Also yesterday, the Maritime Search and Rescue Centre in Khanh Hoa Province assisted a sick 36-year-old Vietnamese sailor working on the Franbo Prospect from Panama.

The sailor apparently developed symptoms of appenditics while traveling from Thailand to Hong Kong. — VNS
