KHANH HOA (VNS) — Two boats sank this weekend, leaving one person dead and 10 missing.

The search continues for eight crewmen on the ship Phuc Xuan 68, which sank yesterday morning near the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa.

En route from the northern city of Hai Phong to the southern city of Vung Tau, the ship collided with Nam Vy 69, which was traveling from Phu My Port in Vung Tau City to the central city of Quy Nhon.

Three of the 11 crewmen were rescued by the Nha Trang Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (Nha Trang MRCC) after about three hours of floating in the sea.

In another waterway accident, a boat on the reservoir lake of Dong Nai 4 Hydropower Plant in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong's Bao Lam District sank on Saturday evening.

The six people on board included five staff of local forestry firm Loc Bac State Operating Company, who were escorting a man they caught illegally cutting down trees to the local authority.

Three company employees were able to swim back to shore.

The other two disappeared along with the logger. The body of one company employee was found and the search for the others is continuing. — VNS
