HCMCITY (Biz Hub) — The HCM City police yesterday announced that they have smashed a gang of drug traffickers.

The police said that they began investigations last month after discovering that a man named Nguyen The Manh from Tan Binh district was selling drugs to small dealers in HCM City.

From Manh, the police tracked down more suppliers of drugs, and finally reached the ring leader, 36-year-old Vu Xuan Nhat from the northern province of Hai Duong. Nhat bought drugs in China and smuggled them into Viet Nam through the northern provinces to sell in the southern city.

The police arrested Nhat on October 29 and seized 232.7gm of methamphetamine. They later found 3.6kg of meth at Nhats temporary residence in Binh Thanh district.

The gang members have been imprisoned, while the police have seized more than 4kg of crystal meth, a small quantity of heroin and a gun. — VNS
