QUANG NAM (VNS) — The central province of Quang Nam will build a VND15 billion (US$714,000) concrete beach dyke in September.

The 137 metre dyke will be the first stage of a 1.5km, VND115 billion ($5.5 million) embankment along Cua Dai beach, which is expected to be completed before the rainy season starting in October.

Water levels have edged closer to the main section of the 1.5km road connecting the beach with Hoi An, threatening dozens of resorts. Rising sea levels have already washed away a 20-hectare section of Cua Dai beach. — VNS
