TOKYO (VNS) — Japanese forces found a body believed to be that of Vietnamese citizen Bui Ngoc Diep, who drowned while swimming in Hamamatsu city, Shizuoka prefecture.
Diep's body was recovered on Monday 50m from the coast of Nakatajima town in the city's Minami district.
Diep and six other Vietnamese students and trainees were swept away by high waves while swimming in a forbidden sea area in the coastal city on August 15, according to Shizuoka police. Four managed to escape alive.
On that day, Japanese search forces found the body of 23-year-old male trainee Nguyen Ba Tuong 500m from the area where he went swimming. Two days later, Do Thi Viet Trinh, another victim, was found 100m off the coast of Nakatajima town. — VNS
