HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday asked the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to urgently repatriate all Vietnamese workers in Libya before the situation worsens there.

First, the ministry needs to bring back immediately 281 Vietnamese people working in two areas of hostilities, the capital Tripoli and Bengazi city, while suspending all travel of Vietnamese workers to Libya.

The Foreign Ministry and Vietnamese representative agencies in Libya have been asked to keep a close watch on the situation and actively work with the MOLISA to ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens in Libya.

At the same time, PM Dung also gave the nod to the use of the Overseas Labour Support Fund to buy flight tickets for Vietnamese workers in case that their employers cannot afford to pay. — VNS
