DAK NONG (VNS)— The Dak Nong's Police in Central Highlands Province, yesterday, took into custody a suspect involved in sawing timber at the Ta Dung Nature Reserve in Dak Nong.
Nguyen Sy Dat, 28, from the neighbouring province of Lam Dong's Dam Rong district, was caught red-handed with his gang while sawing timber in the reserve.
Forest rangers discovered one cut down magnolia and three other sassafras trees, which are included respectively in group 3 and 2A of the national wood list.
Despite efforts to protect the forest, illegal chopping of trees has been reported frequently in recent times in the province. — VNS
