HA NOI (VNS) — Sea border guards in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan yesterday sent a 16-member crew on an emergency rescue mission of a drifting fishing boat with 11 fishermen aboard.
The boat, which came from the central coastal province of Binh Dinh, was reported to have damaged its engine yesterday morning and started drifting in the south eastern sea area of Phu Quy Island, some 43 nautical miles from Binh Thuan Province.
The sea border guards expected to reach the fishing boat today and would tow it back to the Binh Thuan shore.
Also yesterday, the Viet Nam Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre successfully took an injured sailor on the Panama-flagged HW-HARVEST back to land for emergency treatment.
The sailor was involved in an accident aboard the ship when it was 50 nautical miles from the southern province of Vung Tau's O Cap Cape. — VNS
