Five students drown in Dak Lak tragedy

DAK LAK (VNS)— The bodies of five students aged between 13 and 19 were recovered from the Krong Bong River in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak's Krong Bong District yesterday.

Their bodies were found by a local fisherman and identified by authorities as Vang Quang Vinh, Ly Seo Phong, Ly Seo Hung, Giang Van Bang and Ma Van Binh, students from Cu Dram Junior High School and Tran Hung Dao Senior High School.

"They had not attended school since Tuesday," said Tran Quoc, head of the district's education and training office.

The five were reported to be from the Mong ethnic group.

Local authorities are investigating the incident. — VNS
