QUANG NAM (VNS)— The bodies of two people from Tam Tien Commune in the central province of Quang Nam have been recovered after they were swept out to sea while harvesting snails at around 4am yesterday morning.
The chairman of the communal people's committee, Nguyen Giup, told Viet Nam News that the two women, Nguyen Thi Loan, 58, and Huynh Thi Thinh, 49, had been dragged out as far as 60 metres by large waves, off the coast of Ha Quang Village.
The women were part of a group of four people farming snails, but could not be rescued by nearby helpers. Authorities will grant VND1 million (US$490) to each of the families of the deceased. — vns
