Work begins on new German-funded school

Update: February, 15/2014 - 09:27

QUANG NAM (VNS)— Construction began on a secondary school in central Quang Nam Province's Duy Xuyen District yesterday, which is being partly financed by the German foundation Batschka Stiftung.

The school, named after Phan Chau Trinh, a native patriot scholar during the colonialist time of the French, got funding of over VND20 billion (US$940,000), with VND8 billion ($ 376,000) being provided by Batschka Stiftung.

The two-storey building is being created using a flood-proof building model and will include 14 classrooms, a staff room and a multifunctional building.

Once operational in August, the school is expected to provide classes for more than 650 students in the locality, as well as act as a shelter for local residents during the flood season.— VNS
