THAI NGUYEN (VNS)— Thai Nguyen provincial authorities have agreed to press charges against suspects involved in Thursday's clash between Samsung workers and security guards.
At a meeting on Thursday, Thai Nguyen provincial authorities confirmed thirteen people were injured in the clash, while 22 motorbikes and 3 containers were torched in the incident.
Chairman of the People's Committee Duong Ngoc Long said the internal clash between security guards and workers had been driven by lack of information and the significant number of people involved.
The clash was initiated after a worker was beaten unconscious by a security guard for forgetting his ID card.
The provincial authorities have agreed to press charges for the case while security agencies were instructed to tighten security arrangements in the Pho Yen District area around the construction site.
Authorities also agreed to raise awareness of workers on meeting labour and safety requirements. — VNS
