Minh Su Theravada Buddhist Sect convenes in HCM City

HCM CITY (VNS)— The Minh Su Theravada Buddhist Sect held its second congress in HCM City yesterday to review its activities during 2008-2013 and put forward orientations for the 2013-2018 stage.

The event was attended by representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilisation as well as more than 300 Buddhist monks and followers from 19 cities and provinces nationwide.

The congress held that its activities during the past tenure were in compliance with the Party and State's policies and laws on religious belief.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thanh Xuan, vice head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, praised the sect's efforts to reinforce local Buddhist temples and actively carry out social work to build and develop the country.-VNS
