PHU THO (VNS)— Twenty-five drug traffickers have received sentences as a three-day trial ended yesterday in the northern province of Phu Tho.
Life sentences were handed down to the group's ringleaders, Pham Huu Nghi, 47, from Thanh Son District and Mua A Sang, 30, from Son La Province.
According to the indictment, Nghi used to accompany drug users to Son La and Hoa Binh provinces to buy drugs to sell in localities. Between 2010 and March 2012, Nghi and his accomplices traded over 2,997 grammes of heroin. Of the amount 2,775 grammes were bought from Sang.
Three of the ring members were given 20 years in jail, one received a suspended sentence and the remainder will spend between two and 18 years in prison.
The case was uncovered in May 2012. — VNS
