THUA THIEN-HUE (VNS)— Phu Bai International Airport, in the Central province of Thua Thien-Hue, will close for eight months for runway repair starting March 20, said Hoang Ngoc Khanh, deputy chairman of the provincial People's Committee.
The closure will substantially affect the province's tourism sector, Khanh said, as tourists who wish to travel to Hue by air will have to use Da Nang International Airport instead.
In 2011, the airport also closed for one month for repair. Transporting passengers between Da Nang and Hue cost travel companies VND23-25 billion (US$1-1.1million). — VNS
