HCM CITY (VNS) — The management board of HCM City's Thu Thiem New Urban Area signed a contract yesterday with Archetype Viet Nam Co to develop a 1/500-scale zoning plan for a park in the area.
Because of the importance and usefulness of the park, the city People's Committee urged the Investment and Construction Authority of Thu Thiem to select foreign consultants to conduct detailed planning for the park.
Plans would be used as a guideline in developing Thu Thiem and as a blueprint that could attract investors.
The contract worth more than VND6.5 billion (US$312,500) will be implemented within 28 weeks.
The park, which covers a total area of more than 150ha, would serve as a natural ecosystem for not only Thu Thiem but the city as well.
There will be three small functional peninsulas within the southern delta park, in which commercial, tourism and research centres would be located.
Herve Boone, managing director of Archetype Viet Nam, said the low-lying site was subject to water inundation and needed special planning.
The hydrological behavior (flows, deposits, wetlands, riparian vegetation, and soil stability) will be the key factors in the planning and design of the ecological park.
The important output of the master plan will be to identify and articulate a vision for the site, and to ensure that the physical layout as well as buildings and facilities all work together to reinforce that vision.
The company also plans to enhance and restore the natural systems of the site while making it interesting and educational for visitors.
The Archetype Group is a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy firm founded in 2012 in Asia by a group of French architects and engineers.
With 14 offices in 10 countries, the group was ranked 55th in the top 100 architectural firms in the world last year, according to the UK-based Building Design magazine. —VNS
