PHU YEN (VNS) — The Vietnamese fishing boat carrying four rescued Filipino fishermen docked safely at a harbour in Tuy Hoa City in central Phu Yen province on Tuesday.
On January 23, the Vietnamese vessel captained by Luong Cong Xuyen was fishing in waters about 100 nautical miles from Song Tu Dong island in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago when it spotted and rescued the exhausted Filipino fishermen who had been adrift for four days.
From Tuy Hoa they were taken to the provincial hospital for a health check, and have been provided with healthcare, food and accommodation. They are now in a stable condition, and procedures are underway to return them home. — VNS
