President lauds police effort to maintain social order

HA NOI (VNS)— President Truong Tan Sang visited the Social Security Department and the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department yesterday to extend his Tet wishes to their staff as the traditional holiday is approaching.

Sang praised the Social Security Department's efforts in maintaining political security and social order for the country during the past year.

He said the department needed to ensure a united, competent workforce and increase its role by offering advice to the Government and the Communist Party in policymaking.

Sang also praised the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department's achievements last year in raising the quality of investigations and the department's activeness in offering advice to the Government about anti-drug programmes.

He particularly acknowledged the sacrifices of department in the fight against drugs and encouraged them to maintain their determination to overcome difficulties.

Sang confirmed that the Government and the Party would continue to support and help the department in every way to fulfill their important responsibilities.

He said to raise the effectiveness of the anti-drug mission, there should be a close co-operation between relevant State agencies and the people.

He added that the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department needed to have good strategies and encourage its staff to overcome challenges to fulfill their work in order to successfully implement the Anti-drug National Target Programme until 2015. — VNS
