HA NOI (VNS)— The Food Safety Administration, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Health, has confirmed that eight samples of field crab tested recently in Ha Noi were free of pesticides.
The testing was ordered last week after news spread about farmers in Thai Binh and Quang Binh provinces catching field crabs by spraying them with pesticide and then selling them to Ha Noi market. Typically, the crabs are processed into soup.
Deputy Chief Inspector of Quang Binh's agriculture department, Hoang Van Thong, said that the news had been reported to him, but the case was very difficult to investigate. — VNS
