DA NANG — Twins Le Hoang Anh and Le Anh Tien won a gold medal for their fingerprint identification software at the 2012 International Youth Invention Exhibition in Taiwan.
The winners, students at the Da Nang University of Technology, created the software over a nine-month period with the aim of stopping thieves who are believed to stick electronic chips to automatic teller machines to steal customer information.
Their software was designed for use on computers, mobile devices and hardware. Images of fingerprints will be sent to computers to be compared to available data before information can be exchanged. — VNS
