HA NOI - A false rumour regarding the death of 14 fishermen has been doing the rounds in southern Kien Giang Province for the last three days.
The men were said to have eaten poisonous puffer-fish (Ca Noc), usually found in tropical waters.
After initial investigations, Kien Giang authorities announced that the deaths were in fact not related to the consumption of fish.
"We are all in fine health and busy fishing in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau coastal area. There have been no deaths resulting from poisonous fish," said ship owner Dinh Van Dan.
The case remains under strict investigation. -- VNS
