Company to recall milk
products
HCM CITY—Freisland Campina Viet Nam yesterday said it would
recall all milk products sold in Viet Nam containing Vivinal Gos, a pre-biotic
ingredient that feeds the good bacteria in the gut.
The decision was made after complaints from consumers who drank
Dutch Lady ULT (ultra high-temperature sterilised) milk that contains Vivinal
Gos.
The company sent 800 samples to TNO Quality of Life in Holland,
one of the world’s largest research centres in nutrition and health, to test the
quality of the Dutch Lady milk and other products. TNO said no allergens, gluten
or histamine were detected in the samples.
In addition, no indications were obtained which could explain a
possible relation between the reported health complaints and the Dutch Lady
milk, according to FrieslandCampina. Despite the negative test, it has decided
to recall the products. — VNS
